NeuroScience Supplements – The New Way to Treat Common Health Problems

The brain is a giant chemical factory. Chemical messengers called neurotransmitters deliver and block messages that regulate our behavior and mood. Excitatory neurotransmitters deliver signals to prompt an action whereas inhibitory neurotransmitters block signals to slow us down.

Neurotransmitter imbalances are the underlying cause of a lot of common health problems. If you have too many inhibitory neurotransmitters working in your brain, it can lead to depression and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). If you have too many excitatory neurotransmitters firing signals around your brain, you will probably suffer from anxiety and exhibit manic behavior.

Common Health Problems Caused by Neurotransmitter Imbalances in the Brain

Common health problems attributable to an imbalance of neurotransmitters include ADHD, fibromyalgia, obsessive-compulsive behavior, migraines, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), insomnia, and all manner of 21st-Century health issues.

Why Do Our Neurotransmitter Levels Fall Out of Balance?

There are many reasons why our neurotransmitter levels end up out of balance. Stress is a major contributory factor. Some stress is good for us, as it encourages action as opposed to inaction, but exposure to prolonged stress can lead to all kinds of serious health problems, including adrenal fatigue and autoimmune disorders. An imbalance in neurotransmitter levels causes many of these symptoms.

A poor diet is also a contributory factor. If the body doesn’t get enough of the right vitamins and minerals, protein and complex carbohydrates, our body can’t build enough neurotransmitters.

Exposure to heavy metals and certain drugs like caffeine and antidepressants can also lead to a neurotransmitter imbalance.

Once health problems emerge, switching to a healthy diet and controlling your stress levels is not going to be enough to resolve your symptoms. The only way to do this is to treat the underlying cause, which is an imbalance of neurotransmitters.

Using NeuroScience Supplements to Treat Symptoms of a Neurotransmitter Imbalance

NeuroScience supplements can be used to treat a range of health problems, such as adrenal fatigue, stress, anxiety and depression, memory problems, and fatigue. They are available in capsule, liquid, and chewable form. NeuroScience supplements blend amino acids, vitamins and minerals, and essential proteins for optimum health. Proprietary amino acids are the essential precursors for a healthy nervous system and proteins, vitamins, and minerals support nervous system function.

Taking NeuroScience supplements will give you extra nutritional support. Amino acids support neurotransmitter function and the unique balance of vitamins, minerals, and proteins help to dampen down excessive neurotransmitter activity.

Adding brain balancing supplements to your diet is an important step in treating problems like depression, anxiety, adrenal fatigue, and CFS. Your body needs the right balance of amino acids and nutritional support to begin the healing process.

Because supplements like these only contain natural ingredients, side effects are minimal, and they are safe to use in conjunction with other medication such as SSRI antidepressants. However, it is sensible to consult with your doctor if you are on medication, to make sure there are no unwanted problems or side effects.

5 Ways You Can Stay in Shape After 65

Source

If you or someone you care for is approaching 65, you’ve probably already noticed some health and wellness changes. However, these changes do not have to result in a substantial decrease in activity. By staying in shape, adults of all ages can keep their energy levels high.

Through these five proven diet and exercise methods, seniors can retain a youthful schedule and stay in shape after 65.

1. Eat Healthy Foods

Much of the work that is done to keep a senior in shape occurs in the kitchen and dining room. There are several key eating habits and healthy foods that a senior should try to work into their life.

Complex carbohydrates, for instance, play a vital role in maintaining an active lifestyle for any adult. These are the foods that store and release energy in a healthy and efficient way.

You’ll want to introduce more whole grains into your diet, especially as a replacement for any simple carbohydrates you are eating, like white bread or junk food. As a rule of thumb: if it is processed, then it isn’t a healthy complex carbohydrate.

This change will bring two benefits that will make staying in shape easier. First, you’ll be cutting out foods that produce extra bodily fat, keeping you in better shape. Second, complex carbohydrates will give you the energy you need to exercise – a must for anyone looking to stay in shape.

2. Supplements

There are also several supplements you should consider consuming. These extra vitamins and minerals will help fine-tune your diet for a healthy lifestyle.

Potassium can be difficult for many older adults to absorb naturally from food in the same way as young people. However, potassium is essential for many different bodily processes. For many of the same reasons, magnesium should be consumed regularly. Omega-3 fatty acids are also highly beneficial to seniors trying to stay in shape after 65 as they can help to slow several types of age-related degradation.

3. Stretching

A regular stretching routine has several benefits for seniors looking to stay in shape. Firstly, it promotes blood flow, which has many health advantages of its own. Second, it loosens muscles and increases flexibility, which is invaluable for injury prevention. Preventing injuries will keep you healthy for our next two tips for staying in shape beyond 65.

Remember, it’s not about the amount of time you take in stretching, it’s about how many times in the day or week you stretch. Stretching more often instead of stretching for longer periods of time will increase flexibility and improve mobility.

4. Cardio

A healthy heart is essential to staying in shape. Even a brief daily walk (around 30 minutes) can do wonders for your health.

Proper heart health prevents heart attacks and other cardiovascular complications. Additionally, a healthy heart increases your energy levels, making it easier to maintain other aspects of your health.

5. Strength Training

Strength training might seem like a younger person’s exercise; however, many of the same movements are perfect for aging adults. There is also a wide variety of strength training chair exercises for seniors that are safe, simple, and effective. These exercises can be a part of your daily routine anywhere because they only require a chair and maybe a couple of household items.

Additionally, increased skeletal muscle strength can do wonders for anyone experiencing issues with balance or falling.

Parting Thoughts

As you get older, your body is going to need a bit more leeway when working to stay in shape after 65. Older adults are more prone to injury, so be very careful and remember that your safety is the most important thing.

Try not to become frustrated if you don’t see results as fast as you expect. Your body might not be as responsive to exercise and diet as it once was, but you will eventually see the benefits of eating healthy food and exercising.

Avoid Motion Sickness Using Essential Oils

Anyone who suffers from the nausea associated with motion sickness tends to avoid situations causing the misery.  Some people outgrow the problem, but most do not.  If you or your family are prone to motion sickness, read on to learn how essential oils can help end the problem.

What Causes Motion Sickness?

Travelling in a car, boat, plane or spinning around on a carnival ride causes confusion among your senses.  Your eyes are looking ahead, but your muscles feel motion up and down.  Your ears are sensing changes too. This confuses the brain and it doesn’t know how to address the mixed signals.  You end up feeling dizzy and sick.

Your sense of balance is managed by the vestibular system in your body.  The inner ears are part of this system.  They control your sense of balance.  The inner ear canals are filled with a fluid which moves with motion.  As the fluid moves, there are signals sent to the brain telling it that you are standing or lying down.

Next, you brain receives the signals and reacts appropriately – normally.  However, things don’t work out when the brain receives confusing signals.

For example, you are on an airplane and look out the window.  Upon takeoff, there is a change in altitude and cabin pressure. This changes the fluid in your inner ears.  You look outside and see clouds or the earth below giving the appearance that you aren’t moving or moving slowly.  Now your brain doesn’t know if you are up or down and the nausea begins.

If you’ve ever stepped off a carnival ride or boat after sailing on the ocean, your feet tell the brain that you are on solid ground, but you still feel the swells of the ocean up and down and up and down.  Ugh.  The result is motion sickness.

There are plenty of over-the-counter aids available to help.  However, if you opt for more natural motion sickness remedies, there are a few essential oils to help.

Ginger

This favorite food spice is also an essential oil used to quell the nausea related to motion sickness.  Include ginger essential oil as part of your travelling mini-medical kit.  The simplest approach is to add done to two drops of Ginger essential oil to a glass of water before travel.  If it’s a long trip, it’s safe to have another drop or two in water, or even rub between your hands and inhale the aroma for quick relief.

Mint

Essential oils from mint plants are also effective for calming an upset stomach due to motion sickness or digestive problems.  Children prefer spearmint over peppermint as it has a milder flavor.

Application

Anytime you suddenly feel nauseous, or before events where you know you might, try applying any of the above oils to your skin topically to breathe in the soothing scent, and feel a sense of calm.

End Travel Blues Using Essential Oils

There’s nothing like having to use a puke bag in front of 50 other passengers to make their holiday flight unforgettable.  You won’t forget it soon either.  Motion sickness can happen when travelling by car, bus, train, plane or even carousel.  Whether you experience the nausea or are part of the clean-up crew, you can put an end to the nausea using mint and ginger essential oils.

3 Reasons Why You Need Probiotics

When it comes to the human body, it’s really all about the balance inside, and that is where the mission of probiotics come in.

The folks at Harvard Medical School say that the “good bacteria” of probiotics for women are another healthy addition to consider. These incredible foods and/or supplements are affordable and a wise investment.

Even Hollywood celebrities have quickly found the value in following a healthy diet that features probiotic supplementation. Some of these famous female faces include Gwyneth Paltrow, Halle Berry, Reese Witherspoon, Katy Perry, Lauren Conrad, Meg Ryan and Susan Sarandon.

Here are three smart reasons why you need probiotics:

  1. Fab Flora Performs A Function

Flora are the millions of microorganisms that live in your intestines and keep your GI tract running like a smooth machine. To maintain your gut health, you need probiotics to create acidity in the body to generate the production of good bacteria in flora.

You can get this nutrition from probiotic foods like those that are fermented. Some of these would include yogurt, kefir, pickled vegetables, sauerkraut and others.

This article about probiotics says that an abundance of flora is a great protector against infections forming in the colon and other digestive organs. It also boosts one’s complexion and puts a halt to skin infections.

  1. Keeps A Healthy Heart Ticking

Some studies have found that including probiotics in your daily diet can help maintain a healthy heart by knocking down the “bad cholesterol” and modestly lowering blood pressure.

By taking probiotic supplements or eating a probiotic yogurt for at least two weeks, researchers discovered that reductions were made in total cholesterol by four percent and LDL cholesterol by five percent.

For blood pressure to begin lowering, participants had to remain on the probiotic kick for at least eight weeks to see results.

  1. Benefits Mood And Mental Health

Believe it or not, a healthy gut has been linked to one’s state of mental health, and certain strains in probiotic supplements have been found to improve some disorders like depression, stress and anxiety and memory loss.

The two effective strains feature Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus and can be found in supplement form in probiotics for women.

For example, a study involving 40 patients with depression featured some encouraging results. The participants took probiotic supplements for eight weeks and discovered that their depression levels decreased as well as their levels of C-reactive protein, compared to those participants who did not take a probiotic.

C-reactive protein is considered a marker of inflammation and hormones such as insulin.

These are just three excellent reasons for taking probiotics in food or easy to digest capsules for your daily routine.

Plenty of recent studies and clinical trials have been published and point to the value of probiotics for the human body.

The cost of taking these supplements is quite inexpensive, and the benefits can be tremendous.
